EVENT RULES
1. ELIGIBILITY
The August Golf Jam is open only to Amateur Golfers as defined by the R&A.
The August Golf Jam will be played as a Net Stableford Event.
The Maximum Course Handicap used in the tournament will be 24 for Men and 36 for Women, irrespective of the Submitted Handicap Index. This will override any other handicap calculation used in the tournament.
2. PAIRINGS & SCORING FORMAT
The August Golf Jam will be played and scored as below.
Round 1 : Individual Net Stableford
Players will be Scored for Net Stableford Points using 100% of Course Handicap.
Course Handicap for Round 1 will be calculated using the Submitted Handicap Index & Slope Rating for the Course and Tees being played OR the Handicap derived from System 36 Method (explained Later in Section 4) whichever is lower.
Round 2 : Individual Net Stableford
Players will be Scored for Net Stableford Points using 100% of Course Handicap.
Course Handicap for Round 2 will be calculated using the Submitted Handicap Index & Slope Rating for the Course and Tees being played.
However, a correction may be applied to the Original Course Handicap calculated for Round 2, based on actual performance vs Handicap in Round 1. The Course Handicap Correction is explained later (Section 5).
Round 3 : Individual Net Stableford
Players will be Scored for Net Stableford Points using 100% of Course Handicap.
Course Handicap for Round 3 will be calculated using the Submitted Handicap Index & Slope Rating for the Course and Tees being played.
However, a correction may be applied to the Original Course Handicap calculated for Round 3, based on actual performance vs Handicap in Round 1 and Round 2. The Course Handicap Correction is explained later (Section 5).
3. AUGUST GOLF JAM SCORES
The Aggregate Scores of Round 1, Round 2 & Round 3 will be the Final Player Score. These scores will determine the Winning Player for the August Golf Jam. In the event of any tie - the tiebreak will be decided based on the highest better ball stableford points, followed by the points for the back 9, back 6, back 3, and ultimately those for the last hole.
4. SYSTEM 36 HANDICAPPING EXPLAINED
The System 36 Handicapping works as follows :
For any hole,
A gross par or better (including birdie, eagle etc) gives 2 points
A gross bogey gives 1 point
A gross double bogey or worse gives 0 points
Maximum recorded score on any hole is Gross Quadruple Bogey
The sum of points for 18 holes scored as above is reduced from 36 to give the System 36 Handicap for the round.
As an example
In the above example, a Player’s Gross Scores by hole and corresponding par for the Hole result in the points for each of the holes.
For Gross Pars or Better: 2 points have been allotted; Also note that for a Gross Birdie on Hole no 10, only 2 points have been allotted as in this system Gross Par or Better only 2 points are given. So even if it is a Gross Eagle or Albatross and so on, the no of points resulting is just 2.
For Gross Bogeys: 1 point has been allotted.
The Total Points achieved in the above example is 17.
The System 36 Handicap for the Player for this round is therefore 36-17=19
5. COURSE HANDICAP CORRECTION
Handicap Correction will be applied to players after their scores in Round 1 or Round 2 or both, if they played below the 100% Calculated course handicaps (which are calculated based on the Handicaps/Handicap indexes submitted by them).
The 100% Calculated course handicap will be compared to the “System 36 Handicap” obtained ( Refer to Section 4) and the difference (100% Calculated Course Handicap – System 36 Handicap) of 3 or more will result in the 100% Calculated Course Handicaps being reduced for all the “subsequent” round/s.
Note: It is possible there may be reductions after round 1 for round 2 and round 3 and a subsequent further reduction for round 3 after round 2 based on the same comparison

6. COMPETITIONS IN THE AUGUST GOLF JAM & TROPHIES/PRIZES
The August Golf Jam Will Comprise the Following Main Competitions and Trophies
BEST INDIVIDUAL NET STABLEFORD - OVERALL ( Trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Players)
BEST INDIVIDUAL NET STABLEFORD- OVERALL ( SENIORS > 60 years, Trophy for 1st Place)
BEST INDIVIDUAL NET STABLEFORD - OVERALL (LADIES)
BEST INDIVIDUAL NET STABLEFORD - COURSE WISE ( Trophies for 1st & 2nd Place)
Any individual is eligible to win a maximum of 2 trophies in order of importance which is as below
1. BEST INDIVIDUAL NET STABLEFORD - OVERALL ( 1st Place)
2. BEST INDIVIDUAL NET STABLEFORD - SENIORS ( 1st Place)
3. BEST INDIVIDUAL NET STABLEFORD - OVERALL ( 2nd Place)
4. BEST INDIVIDUAL NET STABLEFORD -COURSE WISE ( 1st Place) 5. BEST INDIVIDUAL NET STABLEFORD - LADIES ( 1st Place)
6. BEST INDIVIDUAL NET STABLEFORD - OVERALL ( 3rd Place)
7. BEST INDIVIDUAL NET STABLEFORD - COURSEWISE( 2nd Place)
7. GENERAL
The R&A Rules of Golf shall govern all play
Wherever applicable, all Local course rules to be followed.
All communication regarding the tournament rules, format, scoring or any doubts or clarifications is to be presented to the tournament committee in writing or in email.
In case of discontinuation/disruption of play due to Rain or any other situation beyond the Organisers, the committee shall decide how to proceed and inform the Golfers accordingly
ALL DECISIONS MADE BY THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE WILL BE FINAL AND BINDING.
8. PACE OF PLAY
Pace of Play is paramount to this competition to ensure timely and enjoyable rounds for all golfers in this competition. Everyone is required to ensure that they play within the times allotted by holes and adhere to the times as stated on the pace of play placards which will be placed at regular intervals during the round and also to respect the Marshall’s indications for pace of play
The tournament committee will be the sole decision maker on any penalties relating to pace of play (see points regarding penalties/disqualifications in last para of this document)
9. PENALTIES IN STABLEFORD COMPETITION, DOUBT AS TO PROCEDURE AND PACE OF PLAY AS PER THE RULES OF GOLF
If a competitor is in breach of a Rule for which there is a maximum penalty per round, he/she must report the facts to the Committee before returning his scorecard; if he/she fails to do so, he/she may be disqualified. The Committee will, from the total points scored for the round, deduct two points for each hole at which any breach occurred, with a maximum deduction per round of four points for each Rule breached
If a competitor is doubtful of his/her rights or the correct procedure during the play of a hole, he/she may, without penalty, complete the hole with two balls.
After the doubtful situation has arisen and before taking further action, the competitor must announce to his/her marker or fellow-competitor that he/she intends to play two balls and which ball he/she wishes to count if the Rules permit.
The competitor must report the facts of the situation to the Committee before returning his/her scorecard. If he/she fails to do so, he/she may be disqualified. (RULE 3-3)
Any flight affecting the Pace of play adversely will be appropriately warned. For the purpose of preventing slow play, the Committee may, in such a condition, impose a penalty for a breach of this Rule as follows
First offence – Deduction of one point from the total points scored for the round for each of the competitors in the flight;
Second offence – Deduction of a further two points from the total points scored for the round for each of the competitors in the flight;
For subsequent offence – Disqualification
DECISION AS TO WHETHER THE PACE OF PLAY IS UNACCEPTABLE WILL BE DECIDED BY THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE BASED ON INPUTS FROM THE RESPECTIVE COURSE MARSHALLS
NOTE: ALL DECISIONS MADE BY THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE WILL BE FINAL AND BINDING.
THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES TO THE FORMAT ETC AND ANNOUNCE THE SAME BEFORE THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE TOURNAMENT.
